At The End Of The Road . . .

. . . a new trail begins!
Work has started on the Halo Trail, and when completed will add
6.5 miles of new, high quality single track and create a number of
new loop oppurtunities.
The Nevada Conservtion Corps will be doing the majority of the
work, with four weeks of work to be done this fall, 4 more weeks
in the spring of 2009.
If you would like to help we will be doing supplemetnal work on the following days:
WHEN: Saturdays November 1,8 & 15 – 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
WHERE: Meet at the West Keystone Canyon TH at 9 am (just past the round-a-bout at the end of Leadership Parkway, which can be accessed from the end of Keystone Avenue and North McCarran Blvd, or Victory Land off North McCarran Blvd.)
WHAT: new trail construction of a new non-motorized hiking/mountain biking trail on Peavine Mountain.
WHO: The Poedunks, and group formed to enhance and expand Peavine trails will provide tools and instruction provided.
We are working under a Sponsored Volunteer Agreement with the USFS and due need to work to their standards and specifications, including these requirements for trail work:
YOU MUST PROVIDE:
-Sign in/Sign out signature
-Long pants
-Long shirt
-Fully enclosed shoes or boots (high top work or hiking boots recommended)
-water
-sunscreen
WE WILL PROVIDE:
-tools
-hard hats
-instruction / know how
-and if needed: gloves, safety goggles, first aid kits
Sorry – no volunteers under 16 years of age may participate. Ages 16-18 may with an adult consent form and signature.
